TIAA-CREF


TIAA-CREF is a retirement program available at CMU. TIAA, the Teacher's Insurance Annuity Association, offers a traditional annuity, while CREF, the College Retirement Equities Fund, offers a selection of mutual funds. Please contact Human Resources - Staff for more detailed information regarding your eligibility for these plans and the individual investment options.

Participants in these plans have their contributions electronically deposited with TIAA-CREF after each payroll, and these amounts, including University contributions, appear on your earnings statement.

Access to your TIAA-CREF account may be made by mail, phone, or our recommendation for its ease of use, is their Inter/ACT program available at the TIAA-CREF web site.

By using Inter/ACT, you can check on your account value, transfer funds between accounts, and change your contribution allocations. There is also a wealth of other information available at the TIAA-CREF site. Please note that you must first call TIAA-CREF and request a personal password, which is sent in the mail, before you can access your account online.
