Family Educational Rights and Privacy Act
The Family Educational Rights and Privacy Act of 1974 (FERPA) protects the privacy of individual students by placing certain restrictions on the disclosure of information contained in University records.
In order for verbal or written information regarding a student's account to be given to parents or another third party, the Receivable Accounting Office must have an Authorization to Release Information Form on file, which gives permission to disclose information to the designated party or parties.
The Authorization form needs to be completed by the student and submitted to the Student Service Court.
